PORT ANGELES — It was another dominant night for the Port Angeles boys tennis team as the Roughriders swept all seven matches against North Mason.
In singles play, Grant Butterworth won 6-4, 6-4; Sky Gelder cruised 6-2, 6-1; and Owen Leitz picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
In doubles, Liam Miller and Jensen Wolfe won 6-3, 6-2. Alik Ross and Gagan Seera rolled 6-0, 6-0, and Jacob Oberly and Khyler Fowler finished the sweep 6-2, 6-2.
The Roughriders, currently in second place, host first-place Bainbridge today at 3:30.

In high school football, Sequim fell to Olympic 59-14. The Wolves travel to Bainbridge Friday night and close their season next Thursday at home against North Mason.
The Port Angeles Roughriders were big underdogs at Squalicum but battled hard in a high-scoring game. The Storm prevailed 49-28, but Port Angeles broke off four touchdowns of 49 yards or longer. Quarterback Carson Waddell threw three touchdown passes — two to Kolby Helvey and one to Jude Wallace — while Dylan Mann added a 49-yard scoring run. Kicker Kevin Royack was perfect on all four extra-point attempts.
The Roughriders host Bremerton Friday night and travel to Olympic next Thursday.’

In NWAC soccer, the Peninsula Pirate men tied Whatcom 1-1, with Jaime Joyce scoring the lone Pirate goal. The Pirate women blanked the Orcas 2-0 behind two goals from Isis Bryant.

Port Angeles fast-pitch standout senior Lynzee Reid announced Saturday night on KONP’s Roughrider VIP Halftime Show that she will sign with the Lower Columbia College Red Devils.
Longtime assistant coach Dave Andrew said the program is thrilled to have her heading to Longview:
“She has a big-time power bat from the left side and is a sound outfielder. We also expect her to pitch — she’s got a filthy change-up. She’s a great kid with supportive parents.”

Roughrider pitcher Lynzee Reid has committed to play fastpitch softball at Lower Columbia College next season.

And tomorrow night, history will be made on KONP Newsradio with the station’s first-ever soccer broadcast. The 8-3 Port Angeles Roughriders travel to Sequim to take on the 5-6 Wolves. The pre-game show begins at 6:30, with kickoff at 7:00. Former longtime Roughrider coach Scott Moseley will join Oly Archibald on the call.
