Port Angeles – A Port Angeles woman was sentenced on December 11 after pleading guilty for Assault, Attempting to Elude Police, and Vehicle and Hit and Run charges stemming from an incident that occurred in 2023.
On April 9, 2023 Stacy Dyar-Brown was arrested at the culmination of a police pursuit that began in Port Angeles and ended in Jefferson County.
On that at about 7:00pm, a Clallam County Deputy in downtown Port Angeles observed a possibly impaired driver driving her pick-up truck the wrong way on East First Street. The Deputy attempted a traffic stop, and that began a vehicle pursuit.
Near First and Ennis Dyar-Brown drove on the sidewalk and destroyed a bus shelter. She then used her truck to deliberately ram a Port Angeles Police car and force it into a parked car.
The pursuit continued on Highway 101 to Blyn, where a Jefferson County Deputy deployed spike strips in an effort to stop the pickup. The suspect swerved to avoid the spike strips and drove off the highway into an embankment where she became stuck, and was pinned in place by a Port Angeles Police SUV.
A passenger in the suspect vehicle was rescued by Officers.
On December 11, Dyar-Brown entered a guilty plea and was sentenced in Clallam County Superior Court on what is called a Mental Health Sentencing Alternative and placed under the supervision of the WA Dept. Of Corrections.
She was also ordered to pay restitution to the City of Port Angeles in the amount of $19,300 for the damage to the PAPD cruiser.
