Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra concert with soloist James Garlick
February 21 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$15 – $40“This concert is filled to the brim with romantic melodies,” said Jonathan Pasternack, conductor and artistic director of the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra’s Feb. 21 performance.
Along with Aaron Copland’s beautiful “Quiet City” and Samuel Barber’s Concerto for Violin, the Symphony will play the seldom performed original version of Dvorak’s Seventh Symphony.
“It is gorgeous,” said Pasternack, and “it is a totally rare experience.”
The featured soloist is James Garlick, an internationally known violinist who lives in Port Angeles. Garlick won the Symphony’s Young Artist Competition when he was a teenager, and has gone on to a career in music that includes teaching, traveling the world and cofounding Port Angeles’ Music on the Strait festival.
Concert-goers are also invited to join Pasternack for a short pre-concert talk at 6:30 p.m., to learn more about the evening’s program.
