PORT ANGELES — Clallam Transit is proposing some of its biggest bus route changes in years, including new pilot routes and a redesign of in-town service aimed at making buses easier to use.
The plan would add two pilot routes. One would serve the Lower Elwha area, running along Highway 101 between Port Angeles and Laird’s Corner. Another, called the Deer Park route, would serve Port Angeles along Highway 101, expanding coverage by alternating service times with an existing route.
The proposal would also move away from loop-style routes and toward linear routes, meaning buses would travel the same streets in both directions. Transit officials say that would make trips more direct and easier to understand.
A public hearing has already been held. A board vote on the changes was delayed by technical issues and is now expected February 18.
