
PORT ANGELES — In NWAC basketball action, the Peninsula Pirate men picked up a big road win at Whatcom, edging the Orcas 81–80. The victory keeps the Pirates firmly in the hunt for the fourth and final spot in the NWAC Tournament.
Patrick O’Dingo’s hot first half shooting and the inside presence of Parker Lambright helped Peninsula build a 46–35 halftime lead. O’Dingo finished with 25 points, while Lambright added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Former Roughrider Gus Halberg had his best game as a Pirate, scoring 13 points and coming up with three steals. Halberg also helped seal the win at the free-throw line, going 6-for-7. Cinco McNeal chipped in 10 points.

On the women’s side, the third-ranked Pirates cruised past Whatcom 88–26, extending their Northern Conference winning streak to 49 straight. Peninsula jumped out to a 41–14 halftime lead. Alecsis Smith scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in just 20 minutes. Malia Garcia came off the bench with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Makena Patrick added 10 points and seven boards, and Aspen Fraser finished with 13 points and nine rebounds.

In track and field, former Roughrider Jack Gladfelter ran a personal-best 3,000 meters in 8:27.49 at the Corban University meet — the 13th fastest NAIA time in the nation. Gladfelter will compete next at the University of Washington on Friday.

And former Roughrider and Pirate Millie Long led Fresno State to a 71–51 win over Nevada. Long scored 23 points, pulled down four rebounds, recorded four steals, and handed out three assists. The Bulldogs are now 12–13 overall and host Boise State on Wednesday.
