PORT ANGELES — Residents are being asked to help shape the future of the Laurel Street Stairs as the city plans to replace the aging structure.
Two conceptual design options will be presented during Thursday’s Parks, Recreation and Facilities Commission meeting. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers on East Fifth Street and will also be available online through WebEx.
City staff and landscape architects will review the project’s history and outline the proposed designs. Those attending in person can take part in an interactive exercise to share feedback following the presentation.
For those unable to attend, a recording and online survey will be posted on the city’s website beginning Feb. 23. The survey will remain open for two weeks.
The commission will review public input before its March 19 meeting, when members are expected to recommend a preferred design to the Port Angeles City Council. After final approval, staff will seek grant funding to advance the project toward construction.
