PORT ANGELES — Amazon has received its final permit from the City of Port Angeles to build a warehouse and distribution facility on a 25.6-acre parcel at the northwest corner of West Edgewood Drive and South Critchfield Road.
Community and Economic Development Manager Shannen Cartmel told KONP this week that the City completed the review of the revised permit application on January 20. She said that after all remaining steps for the applicant, such as final payment and acceptance, were completed, the permit was issued to the applicant on January 23.
As part of its approval, the city placed 14 mitigation conditions on the permit. They include dust control during construction, securing a stormwater permit from Ecology, and widening a section of Edgewood Drive with eight-foot shoulders, 12-foot lanes, turn lanes, and a sidewalk.
We reached out to an Amazon spokesperson to see if they could tell us anything about a timeline for commencing and completing construction but have not heard back.
A previous statement from the company said the planned 58,322-square-foot facility would take 8 months to build and would employ about 70 people.
