Port Angeles had several standout performances. The 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams both placed fifth in state, while the 200 freestyle relay finished ninth.
Individually, Miles Van DenBurg placed fifth in the 200 freestyle and sixth in the 100 butterfly.
Thomas Jones finished sixth in the 500 freestyle and ninth in the 200 freestyle.
Adam Kaminski took sixth in the 100 backstroke.
Jebow Nabua placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke.
And Jack Root finished tenth in diving.
Meanwhile, the Port Angeles girls basketball team faces one of the biggest games of their young careers Saturday night at the UPS Fieldhouse in Tacoma.
The 12th-seeded Roughriders, 17-and-6, draw 13th-seeded Renton, who comes in at 21-and-3.
The Red Hawks are young, starting three freshmen. Last year, Renton reached the Sweet 16 Regional before falling to North Mason.
They’re led by 5-foot-8 freshman Gigi Victo Hill, who averages 13 points per game. Head coach Earl Cheatem calls her relentless and a true competitor.

Renton also features 6-foot junior Precious Milles inside, 5-foot-3 freshman Khole Mallory at point guard, along with senior Mari Garner and freshman Mia Michkeson in the starting lineup.
The winner punches their ticket to the state tournament in Yakima, where they’ll face the loser of this weekend’s matchup between fourth-seeded Clarkston and fifth-seeded Archbishop Murphy. That game tips at 12:15 at the Yakima SunDome.
