PORT ANGELES — A record-breaking crowd helped push this year’s Red, Set, Go heart health luncheon to a new fundraising high.

The 19th annual event, hosted Friday by the Olympic Medical Center Foundation, netted $273,000 for the Olympic Medical Center Heart Center — surpassing last year’s total of $266,000.

Proceeds from the luncheon will go toward upgrading cardiac ultrasound systems at the heart center. According to Heart Center Director Leonard Anderson, the improvements include updated software and hardware, along with a new ultrasound transducer designed to enhance both 2D and 3D imaging — extending the life and capabilities of the system.

The event, held at the Vern Burton Community Center, featured remarks from Anderson, Dr. Ajay Joseph of the St. Francis Health System in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and heart transplant recipient Robin Presnelli — known locally as Robin Tweter.

In addition to supporting cardiac care upgrades, funds were also raised for the OMC Healthcare Scholarship Fund.
