LOCAL SPORTS: Sequim Claims Duke Streeter Girls Title as Roughriders Roll Across Olympic League Action

PORT ANGELES – Seventy-seven of the best high school golfers in the Olympic League converged at Peninsula Golf Club for the Duke Streeter Invitational.

Kendra Dodson and Raimey Brewer of Sequim finished first for the girls.
For Port Angeles, the team of Sky Gelder and Max Gagnon finished second, while Cale Wentz and Noah Myers placed third.
Seniors Izzy Spencer and Max Gagnon won K.P. (closest-to-the-pin) prizes.

In baseball action, Port Angeles beat Bremerton 3-0, while North Kitsap topped Sequim 9-1.

In tennis, the Roughriders—coming off a 6-1 loss to Sequim—bounced back to beat Kingston 4-3.
In singles play, Audrey Rudd won 6-0, 6-3, and Allysum Larson won 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles, Ivy Powless and Brylie Martin won 6-4, 6-4, while Cate Chance and Charlotte Curran won 6-4, 6-1.
Port Angeles hosts Bremerton today, and Sequim travels to North Kitsap, with both matches starting at 4:00.

In softball, North Kitsap beat Sequim 21-2, while Port Angeles defeated Bremerton 9-1.
Pitcher Lynzee Reid earned the win, going four innings with three strikeouts and allowing one hit. Allison Leitz pitched three innings with three strikeouts and one hit.
At the plate, Reid had a triple. Kennedy Rognlien had a single, a double, and a two-run home run. Morgan Politika added a single and a triple with an RBI. Nyomie Colfax had a single and a double, and Mariah Disque added a single with two RBIs.
The Roughriders host Olympic today at 4:00.

In soccer, sixth-ranked Port Angeles beat North Kitsap 3-2, and Sequim defeated Olympic 2-1.
