
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles track and field team had a strong showing at the Shoreline Invitational.
The Roughriders’ 4-by-400 relay team of Logan Wilson, Liam Wilson, Andre Campbell, and Easton Dempsey finished fifth. Dempsey also won the 1,600-meter run, while Liam Wilson placed fourth in the 400-meter sprint. Henry Wendel took fourth in the 3,200, and Brody Pierce finished second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump. Teanna Clark won the javelin.
On the girls’ track side, the 4-by-400 relay team finished sixth.
In baseball action heard on KONP Newsradio, the Sequim Wolves, now 6-and-11, beat East Jefferson, 9-to-2, at Chimacum.
Sophomore Conner Oase got the start and was outstanding, pitching four innings with seven strikeouts while allowing five hits and two runs. Reliever Hunter Tennell followed with three shutout innings, striking out four and giving up just two hits.

At the plate, catcher Lincoln Bear led the way with three doubles and two RBIs. Zeke Schmadeke added two singles and scored twice.

Sequim has a pair of key games against Bremerton this week — at home tomorrow and on the road Wednesday. The Wednesday matchup will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio.
In boys soccer, fifth-ranked Port Angeles, now 13-and-2, scored twice in the first 14 minutes to beat Sequim 2-nil.
Matthew Miller opened the scoring in the second minute off a rebound, and Tanner Lagrange added a goal in the 14th minute on an assist from Miller. Head coach Chris Saari praised Grant Butterworth for his defensive play and freshman goalkeeper Maverick Williams, who recorded his fifth shutout of the season.
In softball, Port Angeles beat Kingston 10-to-6. Lynzee Reid earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing three hits. Allison Leitz picked up the save with three innings of work and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Kennedy Rognlien had a big day with a single, two doubles, and an RBI. Sophia Ritchie added two singles and two RBIs, while Nyomie Colfax had two singles and an RBI. Lilly Anne Lancaster drove in a run, Mariah Traband had a single and a double, and Mariah Disque chipped in two singles and an RBI.
And the Olympic League golf tournament tees off this morning at 8 o’clock at Kitsap Golf and Country Club.
