
PORT ANGELES — Candidate filing is underway in Clallam County, and early filings are already shaping several key races ahead of this fall’s election.
In the race for Clallam County Commissioner District 3. Incumbent Democrat Mike French has filed for reelection and will face independent challenger Jake Seegers.
Countywide offices are also beginning to fill in. Lee Hancock has filed for County Assessor, while Prosecuting Attorney Mark Nichols is seeking another term. Bruce Emery has entered the race for Director of Community Development.
At the state level, the 24th Legislative District is drawing a crowded field. Independent Ted Bowen has filed for State Representative Position 1, the position currently held by Adam Bernbaum. The Position 2 seat, being vacated this year by Steve Tharinger, has already attracted multiple candidates. Democrats Patrick DePoe, Kaylee Kuehn, and Bradley Nemo Callaway have filed. Marcia Kelbon also filed for the seat and is running without party preference.
Further down the ballot, Missi Baker has filed for PUD Commissioner District 2, and Alex Schodowski has entered the race for Clallam County District Court judge.
At the federal level, two candidates have filed in Washington’s 6th Congressional District US House race: independent Brian P. O’Gorman and Republican Leon Lawson.
