
PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula Pirates women’s soccer team has signed its second transfer from Lake Tahoe Community College — forward Savannah Leahy of Sherwood, Oregon.
Leahy redshirted her freshman season at Lake Tahoe. At Sherwood High School, she helped lead the Bowmen to a four-year league record of 16-2-2. As a sophomore, Leahy earned First Team All-League honors and was rated by Sports Illustrated Oregon as one of the top 35 forwards in the state.

The Roughrider girls golf team will send Layla Parker to the district tournament. Parker shot a 113, finishing 16th out of 43 golfers. Helen Fishman narrowly missed qualifying, shooting a 114 to finish 19th. Amy Biondillo shot a 115 for 22nd place, Lainey Rudd a 116 for 24th, Raynee Ciarlo a 122 for 29th, and Izzy Spencer a 124 for 30th.
In high school baseball, Port Angeles earned a big 6-3 win over Kingston. The Roughriders, now 6-7 in league play, sit one game behind Bremerton for fourth place. Port Angeles travels to Kingston today for a 4:00 first pitch.
The Roughriders are expected to host a district playoff game Monday at 4:00, possibly against Eatonville. That game will be broadcast here on KONP Newsradio.

In softball, Port Angeles beat North Mason 5-1. Pitcher Allison Leitz earned the win, going four innings with six strikeouts and allowing just one hit. Lynzee Reid picked up the save, pitching three innings with two strikeouts.
At the plate, Reid hit two doubles and scored twice. Kennedy Rognlien led the offense with two doubles, two singles, and two runs scored, along with an RBI. Morgan Politika added a single with two RBIs. Nyomie Colfax drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Lilly Anne Lancaster singled and scored, and Mariah Traband added two doubles and an RBI.
