PORT ANGELES — New candidate filings late this week are continuing to reshape several key local races in Clallam County.

In countywide offices, the Assessor’s race is now a contest, with Antonio Price filing Thursday to join Lee Hancock. The Auditor’s race has also expanded, with incumbent Shoona Riggs entering Thursday, joining earlier filer Virginia Shogren.

The County Treasurer’s race now includes incumbent Jennifer White, who filed Wednesday and is currently the only candidate in that contest.

In the race for PUD Commissioner District 2, the field has grown quickly. Randy Brackett filed Wednesday, followed by Timothy Dalton and John “Jack” Smith on Thursday — joining earlier candidate Missi Baker to create a four-person race.

There’s also movement in the courts. Patrick Murphy filed for Clallam County District Court 1 on Wednesday, setting up a race with Alex Schodowski.

Most other local races, including County Commissioner District 3 and Sheriff, remain unchanged heading into the final day of filing week.
