Candidate filing closes in Clallam County

PORT ANGELES — Candidate filing week has wrapped up in Washington, setting the stage for several contested races affecting Clallam County voters.

In the race for the 6th Congressional District seat, incumbent Democrat Emily Randall drew challengers Teresa Fox, Brian P. O’Gorman, Macy Jones and Leon Lawson.  

The 24th Legislative District will also see crowded contests this year.

For State Representative Position 1, candidates include Eric Pratt, Ted Bowen, Adam Bernbaum, Aiden Hamilton and Bradley Nemo Callaway.  

In the Position 2 race, Patrick DePoe, Kaylee Kuehn, Mark Hodgson and Marcia Kelbon filed for office.  

Several county-level races are also contested.

Two candidates filed for Clallam County Assessor: Lee Hancock and Antonio Price. Virginia Shogren and Shoona Riggs are running for County Auditor.  

For Clallam County Commissioner District 3, Mike French and Jake Seegers both filed.  

Bruce Emery filed for Director of Community Development, Mark Nichols filed for Prosecuting Attorney, Brian King filed for Sheriff, and Jennifer White filed for Treasurer. Those races currently have only one candidate each.  

The Clallam County PUD District 2 commissioner race drew five candidates: Timothy Dalton, Missi Baker, Rick Paschall, Randy Brackett and Jack Smith.  

In local judicial races, Alex Schodowski and Patrick Murphy filed for Clallam County District Court 1 judge, while Bruce Hanify filed unopposed for District Court 2 judge.  

The primary election is scheduled for August 4th.
