Memorial Day Ceremony in Port Angeles– Community Invitation

The community is warmly invited to gather in remembrance, gratitude, and patriotism for a Memorial Day
Ceremony hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6787 in partnership with Michael Trebert Chapter,
NSDAR on Monday, May 25, 2025, beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. at the Veterans Circle in Mount
Angeles Memorial Park Cemetery located at 45 Monroe Road, Port Angeles, Washington.
This meaningful community tribute honors the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who gave their
lives in service to our nation and freedoms. Families, veterans, youth organizations, civic groups, and
community members are encouraged to attend.
“As America approaches the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, Memorial Day reminds us that
freedom has always come at a cost,” said VFW Post 6787 Commander Dave Yarnchak, Vietnam Veteran.
As part of the Memorial Day observance, members of the National Society Daughters of the American
Revolution Michael Trebert Chapter will place US flags on Saturday, May 23 beside veterans’ grave
markers at both Mount Angeles Memorial Park Cemetery and Ocean View Cemetery.

 Welcome by VFW Post 6787 Commander Dave Yarnchak, Vietnam Veteran
 Pledge of Allegiance led by World War II Army Veteran Jerry R. LaJambe and wife Wanda
Bean, Michael Trebert DAR member.
 Patriotic music presented by Juan de Fuca Harmony directed by Linda Muldowney:
o “The Star-Spangled Banner”
o “Battle Hymn of the Republic”
o “America the Beautiful”
 Memorial Day Address by Commander Dave Yarnchak
 Community Wreath Presentation honoring fallen service members by local non-profits.
 Rifle Volley presented by Mt. Olympus Detachment Marine Corps League #897
 Echoing Taps provided by American Legion Post 29 and the Marine Corps League
 “Amazing Grace” performed by bagpiper
 Closing Prayer by VFW Post 6787 Chaplain Mel Fisher
Community Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to respectfully collect the US flags from veterans’ graves
(previously placed Saturday) at Mount Angeles Memorial Park and Ocean View Cemetery
on Monday, May 25, at 5:00 p.m. Families, youth groups, service organizations, and
community members are encouraged to participate in this meaningful act of remembrance
and honor.
