Ms. Kitt Shapiro – Daughter of Eartha Kitt – Author

Eartha Kitt.  The men wanted her and the women wanted to BE her.  For six decades the woman called, the most exciting woman in the world, by Orson Wells, wowed audiences with her talent, her brains, the way she championed for civil rights, and taught an entire generation how to PURRRRR.  She was a mix of black, Cherokee, and white heritage but was viewed as solely a black woman.  She used to say, “I’m not black and I’m not white and I’m not pink and I’m not green.”  She just WAS! She was the sultry voice behind the best Christmas wish list to Santa ever recorded and when she was 73, she reached yet another generation with her award winning vocal performance as Yzma in “The Emperor’s New Groove”.  Now, her only child, Kitt Shapiro, is opening up to the world and giving us an up close and person look at the true beauty of her mom.  When I asked her why she wrote this book, entitled “Eartha and Kitt: A Daughter’s Love Story in Black and White” I was surprised at her answer. I hope you enjoy my interview with the Kitt Shapiro, the daughter of one of my heroes, Ms. Eartha Kitt.  If you would like to get a signed copy of her book, click HERE for her website.
