ABOUT BEATRIX BUTTERFLY WINGS IT FOR ONCE
Chronicle Chroma will publish on April 8, 2025, BEATRIX BUTTERFLY WINGS IT FOR ONCE, the much anticipated second children's picture book in the New York Times bestselling "Addie Ant's Garden Friends" series co-authored by acclaimed singer-songwriter Maren Morris and her longtime best friend, educator Karina Argow. Morris and Argow's debut picture book, ADDIE ANT GOES ON AN ADVENTURE, was an instant New York Times Bestseller, and was inspired by Morris's love of reading to her young son as well as her lifelong desire to inspire others through words and lyrics. BEATRIX BUTTERFLY WINGS IT FOR ONCE continues that passion, this time following the story of a character we met in the first book, Beatrix Butterfly, as she wakes up on the wrong side of the watermelon bed feeling overwhelmed and a bit melancholy. With a little help from her friends, including Ellis Squirrel, Lewis Ladybug, and Salvador Slug, Beatrix learns to soar by sharing her feelings, helping others, keeping promises, and discovering unexpected joy along the way.
"It's such a pleasure to work with Maren and Karina," says Chronicle Chroma Publishing Director, Gloria Fowler. "Their close friendship, love of nature, and pun-filled sense of humor resonate in how they collaborate and in the stories they tell. In writing BEATRIX BUTTERFLY WINGS IT FOR ONCE, they were inspired by this Audrey Hepburn quote which embodies the theme of the book:
'You will discover that you have two hands. One is for helping yourself and the other is for helping others.'
Argow is an educator and avid gardener who has influenced Morris' desire to teach her son the wonder of nature, the joys of growing your own fruits and vegetables, as well as the important role that insects play in the process. As advocates for food sustainability, Morris and Argow are looking forward to working with The Good Friends Fund to support expanding access to children and families.
The mission of The Good Friends Fund is to support produce sustainability and expand food access to children and families in need. The fund provides both local and national gardening opportunities and experiences for children to dig deeper into the science of food growth, while also having some fun getting their hands dirty! Our vision is to engage the national conversation around what nourishment and environmental stewardship looks like for generations of families.
ABOUT KARINA ARGOW
Karina Argow is a former high school English and language arts teacher. Her love of teaching and writing, coupled with her passion for gardening, inspired her to collaborate with close friend Maren Morris on a series of children's books about a little ant named Addie and her community of bugs, birds, and other backyard critters. Karina lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her partner, Jonathan, and can be found most days wandering through her garden beds talking to the bugs that buzz around them.
