Mr. Weird Al Yankovic – Musician – Legend – Weirdo

I have absolutely adored Weird Al for as long as I can remember.  His movie, "UHF" was on repeat in my home when I was younger (and a teenager...and adult) because it was so crazy, it made sense to me.

Then, as an adult, I made a friend who shared the same love for "Al" as I did.  We bonded over the release of "Strait out of Lynnwood" and listened to his polkas a lot.  We had the chance to spend a lot of time together, sharing our love of music, movies, The Far Side and pizza as he battled cancer.  And when the day came that he lost his battle, his parents made sure I got one of his Far Side Books...and a Weird Al CD.  This was a very meaningful interview.  Thank you Weird Al.

Mr. Cuba Gooding Jr. – Actor

When I jumped onto the Zoom call with Mr. Cuba Gooding Jr., there was no picture...only a blank screen with his name on it.  My camera was on, and I had actually done my hair and make up that morning...and I was HOPING I would get to see his face!  Well, when he saw my camera on...he turned his on...and there it was...that legendary SMILE of the one and only Cuba.  What a pleasure to speak with him.  I hope you enjoy listening in on our conversation.  :)

Cuba Mark Gooding Jr. broke thru as Tre Styles in Boyz n the Hood (1991). Then he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor playing a football star in Jerry Maguire (1996). His other notable films include Outbreak (1995), As Good as It Gets (1997), What Dreams May Come (1998), Men of Honor (2000), Pearl Harbor (2001), Rat Race (2001), The Fighting Temptations (2003), Radio (2003), American Gangster (2007), The Tuskegee Airmen (1995), The Butler (2013), and Selma (2014). He voiced Buck the Horse in the animated feature film Home on the Range (2004).

For his portrayal of O. J. Simpson in the FX drama series The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story (2016), he earned a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie and co-starred in the FX series American Horror Story: Roanoke (2016). He played Ben Carson in the film Gifted Hands (2009).

Gooding Jr. made his Broadway debut playing Ludie Watts in the 2013 revival of the Horton Foote play The Trip to Bountiful. In 2018, he played Billy Flynn in the musical Chicago on both the West End and on Broadway.
