PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles Police have two men in custody, suspected of being responsible for a window shooting spree on October 14 along First and Front Streets that caused more than $10,000 worth of damage to businesses, bus stops, cars and a house.
Pending formal charges, police have only listed the suspects as a 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old man. One suspect is thought to have been driving a vehicle while the other shot out windows with a BB gun. One of them was already in the jail after being booked for a Department of Corrections warrant on October 21. The other suspect was taken into custody at his home when a search warrant was served and a BB gun was recovered.
The Prosecutor is considering charges of First-Degree Malicious Mischief and Reckless Endangerment. Police say the cases do not meet the elements of Drive By Shooting under Washington law because a BB gun is not considered a firearm. The Reckless Endangerment charge was added after the investigation revealed that the suspect shot out a living room window while a man in his 70s was in the room.
The suspects remain in the jail on $50,000 bail.
