PORT TOWNSEND – In Jefferson County Superior Court yesterday, James Parker of Brinnon was sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to Assault in the First Degree, Burglary, and Harassment/Threats to Kill following his arrest and prosecution for attacking his former girlfriend with a machete.

Court records show that on the night of January 17 of last year, Deputies responded to a report that Parker’s ex-girlfriend opened the door to her residence and Parker attacked her with a machete, threatening to kill her. The woman sustained significant injuries to her arms, head and neck.

She was able to escape her home and drive away in her car before she was contacted by a Deputy on Highway 101.

Deputies later received information that Parker fled south down Highway 101 into Mason County. Eventually his vehicle was located blocking traffic on Highway 101.

A Mason County K-9 was called to the scene and Parker was found hiding in the woods 100 yards from his vehicle.
