Former Roughrider legend Joel Thomas will be interviewed on the KONP pregame show Friday night.

PORT ANGELES — In NWAC soccer action, the fourth-ranked Peninsula Pirates ended their match against Whatcom in a 2-2 tie. Whatcom led 2-1 at the half. Alfonso Edfeldt and Shu Kato had the goals for the Pirates. The Pirates are 6-1-1 on the season.

The #1 ranked Peninsula Pirate women blew out Whatcom 11-1. The Pirates led at the half 8-0. Briana Jean Tanaka had a hat trick, former Roughrider Millie Long scored 2 goals as did Angelica Gutierrez. The Pirates out shot Whatcom 29-2. The Pirates have outscored their opponents 29-4. The Pirates are 8-0 on the season.

There is high school volleyball action today, as Sequim will host Jackson HS of Everett with the first serve at 6 pm.

In high school tennis action, Sequim will host Kingston at 4 pm and a great Roughrider team who is red hot will host North Kitsap at 4 pm.

It’s rivalry week for the Sequim and Port Angeles football teams as they kickoff Friday night at Civic field. The Wolves played their best football of the year for two and a half quarters and only trailed 20-14 to Bainbridge. But the Spartans then ran off 25 straight points. The Wolves are 0-3 on the season. The Port Angeles Roughriders fell to 1-2 getting crushed by fifth-ranked North Kitsap at Lumen field. Sequim won last year’s game in Sequim. Kickoff Friday night is set for 6:30 pm. KONP Radio will begin its pre-game show at 5:30 pm and will feature a special guest. Roughrider Hall of Famer and current New Orleans Saint’s running back coach Joel Thomas will talk about his playing days and the Roughriders rivalry with Sequim.
