PORT ANGELES — The district high school tournament brackets are out, and all 4 local teams received home cooking bids.

The Roughrider girls, at 15-6, are the #2 seed and will host #7 seed Foster also 15-6. The Roughriders will be big-time favorites and if they do not fall into a shock-the-world upset, the Roughriders would play the winner of the #6 Kingston – #3 Sammamish game in the semifinal at Silas High School for a trip to the district championship game Saturday afternoon at 12:45.

The Sequim Wolves, at 12-5, surprisingly received the #4 bid and will host district powerhouse #5 Enumclaw (14-7). If the Wolves win, they would play in a semifinal match up Friday at Silas High School at 7:45 against the winner of the #1 seed White River – #8 North Kitsap game. That would mean local fans would have the Roughriders playing at 6:00 and Sequim at 7:45 for double header action at Silas High School. If the Wolves lose to Enumclaw, they will host the winner of the #12 North Mason and the #13 seed yet to be named Friday night at 6:00.

The #4 Roughrider boys will host #5 seed Sammamish Tuesday night at 6:00 which should be a classic. Earlier in the year, the Roughriders came from 13 points down at home to get the win over the Red Hawks. The winner will play the winner of the #1 seed North Kitsap – #8 seed Foss game Thursday night at Silas High School with the tip off at 7:45. The loser will host the winner of the #13 Highline – #12 seed Steilacom game Thursday at 6:00.

The Sequim Wolves boys, at 10-10, start in the elimination bracket and will be big favorites against #14 seed Evergreen 9-12. The winner will have a tough match up on the road against the loser of the #3 Renton – #6 seed Franklin Pierce game.
