FORKS, Wash. – Clallam County Sheriff Brian King and the City of Forks have renewed an agreement that authorizes Sheriff’s deputies to take on some the duties of the Forks police station due to a shortages of officers.

Sheriff King explains.

“So, the City of Forks is down to one police officer, and that’s their Chief, Mike Rowley. And so, the agreement we took in front of the board was an agreement, it was actually an update from an existing 2016 agreement for assisting the City of Forks in providing police services. So, it will primarily be done on deputies’ days off. So, on overtime-related shifts, where Mike will reached out to us with certain times of the day that he needs coverage, and we’ll assist him in providing that.”

Sheriff King says his deputies likely won’t occupy the police station, but will continue to work out of their own detachment office nearby. He said his detectives would also be offering their investigative services when needed.

In return, the City of Forks will reimburse the Sheriff’s Office for mileage and overtime expenses.
