PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles police arrested a 27-year-old man for Reckless Endangerment-Domestic Violence after an apparent accidental gunshot hit his 5-year-old daughter in the neck and shoulder.

On Sunday morning officers and medics responded to a report that a child had been accidentally shot with a 9mm pistol near 15th and C Streets.

The child was transported to Olympic Medical Center before being airlifted to Harborview in Seattle, where she was treated and released.

Police are still investigating how the girl was shot and by whom. The girl’s father, Stephen Miller of Woodland, Washington, was still being held in the Clallam County jail as of Monday afternoon.
