PORT ANGELES — Peninsula Pirates men’s basketball coach Bryce Jacobson has secured the second commitment for the 2024 recruiting class: 6’3″ forward Cinco McNeal, who is transferring from Clark College, where he redshirted this past season.

McNeal attended Mojave High School in Las Vegas, where he contributed to consecutive Class 4A Nevada State Championships in his junior and senior seasons. The Rattlers boasted a 19-1 league record and a 44-12 overall record during those two seasons. In his senior year, McNeal averaged 4 points per game and 3 rebounds per game.

McNeal’s father, Fonzo McNeal, also played for the Pirates.

In women’s soccer, the Pirates are welcoming transfer Rilee Leigh, who played at Green River College last season. Leigh, who attended Centennial High School in Boise, Idaho, played in 15 games for the Gators last year, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists.

The Pirate men’s soccer team has signed Noah Moe from Stjordal, Norway.

In golf action yesterday, the Roughrider girls continued their outstanding season by shooting their best score of the year, defeating North Mason 194-216. Autumn Wilson-Rowland and Lauryn Chapman led with high scores of 47, followed by Malena Marquez with a 49, Mia Neff with a 51, Claire Osterberg with a 54, and Izzy Spencer with a 66.

The Roughrider boys maintained their winning streak, defeating the Bulldogs 163-209. Nate Anderson led with a score of 38, followed by Cale Wentz with a 40, Austin Worthing with a 42, Max Gagnon with a 43, and Kolby Charles with a 46.

Today’s golf match features Sequim traveling to North Kitsap with tee-off at 3:00.

In girls fastpitch action, North Kitsap defeated Sequim 7-0.

In soccer, North Kitsap faces Port Angeles with kickoff at 7:15.

In baseball, Port Angeles is vying for a league championship, while the Sequim Wolves, currently 6-6 in league play and tied with Kingston for 4th place, are aiming for a top 8 district seed. The Wolves play Olympic, with hopes of sweeping or at least splitting the series to boost their standings. Meanwhile, the Roughriders, tied with North Kitsap for 1st place at 10-2, face Bremerton, who are winless in league play. Both games start tonight at 4:15.

Next Wednesday night, the Roughriders will play Kings high school at Cheney Stadium home of the AAA Tacoma Rainiers
