Ms. Karyn Parsons – Actress

Karyn Parsons is an extremely talented actress.  During my childhood, she made me laugh as the very pretty, completely obtuse and often vapid, Hillary Banks on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.  I was also a huge fan of her work in one of my favorite movies, “Major Payne” as she played the tough but kind Emily Walburn to Daymon Waynes terrifyingly hilarious and militant  Major Benson Payne.  But Ms. Parsons is far from her character that won her critical acclaim.  She’s smart.  She’s sweet.  And she is starring in a new movie, written and directed by her husband Alexander Rockwell, entitled “Sweet Thing”.  Having just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, Sweet Thing chronicles two young children on a summer adventure, as they desperately try and escape from parents who will NOT be nominated for parent of the year any time soon.  The poignant moments in this movie are punctuated even farther, knowing that Karyn plays the alcoholic mother to her real life children, Lana and Nico.  It’s not hard to see where her children got their acting talent from.  This independent movie is a must watch.  Trying not to fan-girl to hard, here is my interview with the amazing, the stunning, the talented, Ms. Karyn Parsons.
