PORT ANGELES – Neighborhoods in south Port Angeles were on high alert last night, with reports a mother bear and her cubs strolling through their yards.

The reports came in yesterday evening of the bears in the area south of Saars Supermarket near Lauridsen Boulevard and Lincoln Street.

The bears were also reported walking though yards in the area around Port Angeles High School.

The state Fish and Wildlife Department was called in to try to address the issue. No one from the local office had returned phone calls for an update as of Tuesday.
