SEQUIM – Habitat For Humanity will soon open a second store in Sequim, but with a slightly different business model than the store in Port Angeles.

The non-profit is setting up shop at 213 E. Washington Street, the site of the old Yarn Shop, across the street from the Clallam Co-op.

Habitat For Humanity’s Executive Director Colleen Robinson says it’s been her vision to open a Sequim store since joining the organization in 2015. She told us that with the help of Kevin Hoult from the Small Business Development Center, she applied for and won a grant from the Port of Port Angeles to not only open the new store, but to also start an internship program for a couple of students per year from Sequim High School.

The 1500 square-foot space will include 500 feet of office space and 1000 feet of retail. The new store will be different from the Port Angeles store in that it will not have appliances and building supplies, but will focus on furniture, antiques and other household items.

Robinson says the plan is to get moved into the office space in October, and open shop by mid-November.
