OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK – Olympic National Park officials are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of a dead cow elk found within the Park boundaries.

On the morning of February 15 a visitor reported finding the elk on Upper Hoh Road.

Park Rangers and state Fish & Wildlife officers investigated and discovered the cow elk had been killed sometime between February 14 and the early morning hours of February 15. The carcass was within yards of the roadway and no attempt was made to harvest the meat.

Olympic National Park protects the largest population of Roosevelt elk in its natural environment in the world.
