PORT ANGELES – 28-year-old Forks resident Tommy Cook Jr., who was arrested in June of last year on multiple drug and weapons charges, has been sentenced to 6-and-a-half years in prison.

His high-profile arrest involved OPNET officers and the State Patrol SWAT team at the RV he was living in parked outside of his father’s house on G Street in Forks. His arrest was based on probable cause developed by OPNET that Cook Jr. had been selling heroin for cash and trading it for tranquilizers, all within 1000 feet of a school bus stop.

The SWAT Team was requested due to Cook Jr’s previous convictions for making threats, harassment, and multiple assaults. A search of his RV produced a handgun and paraphernalia. Due to his criminal history, Cook Jr was prohibited by law to be in possession of firearms. The search also led to enough probable cause to get a search warrant for Tommy Cook Sr.’s house.

In that search, detectives discovered 62 grams of heroin and almost $3,000 in cash in a closet.

In April, Cook Jr. plead guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance with a Firearm Enhancement, two counts of Bail Jumping, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance in a School Zone.
