SEQUIM – District 3 firefighters responded to a garage fire at 160 House Road Tuesday night at 9:45.

First arriving crews reported smoke and fire coming from the front of a single story detached garage. Fire had vented out the open overhead door where a minivan was parked half-way inside of the garage and where someone had been doing repairs.

While crews mounted an attack from the outside of the garage, the minivan was winched out to help fight the blaze.

The owner suffered minor burns on her right hand and was treated by paramedics on scene.

The structure suffered extensive damage estimated at $70,000, with the contents estimated at $30,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
