PORT ANGELES – No one was hurt, but a Port Angeles-area home was badly damaged in a fire.

Clallam 2 Fire Rescue was called to the fire in the 1800 block of South Golf Course Road about 9:45 pm.

Everyone in the house was able to get out safely.

The occupants in the house at the time reported seeing smoke in the house and when they went to investigate noted a large amount of smoke and fire around the door to one of the bedrooms.  They evacuated the house and called 911. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the house.

The fire was knocked down by 10:00 PM and fully extinguished by 10:30 PM.

There was major damage to two rooms of the house and extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the entire house.  The occupants were able to stay with friends/family locally.

Fire Chief Jake Patterson says the fire started in a bedroom and they’re trying to find the exact cause. He says it appears to be accidental.

In total, Clallam 2 Fire Rescue responded with three fire engines, two ambulances, one water tender, three command vehicles and 23 total personnel.  Port Angeles Fire Department responded via mutual aid request with one engine and three personnel.  Clallam County PUD and the Port Angeles Police Department also responded to the incident.
