PORT ANGELES – Jacob Hunter, the shooter in Thursday morning’s double homicide near Sequim, was a Corrections Officer working at Clallam Bay Corrections Center since February 2019.

Chief Criminal Deputy Brian King from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office says the apparent motive for the shootings was victim Samantha Faber’s “unwillingness to enter into a romantic relationship with Hunter at the level he desired”.

Witness statements also indicate that James Faber Jr. was shot when he ran towards the gunfire in an attempt to either stop Hunter or render aid to his sister Samantha.

King also confirmed that Hunter died of apparent suicide using his own weapon.

Hunter was living in the Faber’s home on Sheldon Lane just west of Sequim at the time of the incident. There were two children and two other adults in the house when law enforcement arrived shortly after midnight, but they were able to get out safely.
