PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles will host a suicide prevention event this evening.

Organizers are urging those who have suffered by a suicide in their family and others wishing to raise awareness about the issues to gather at Veterans’ Park on Lincoln Street at 6 pm.

Brianna Kelly helped put together what is the only event in Washington State to mark today’s World Suicide Prevention Day.

Kelly says people can bring signs as memorials for lost loved ones or that have inspirational messages. Clallam County is on pace this year to have its highest number of suicides ever recorded.
