EDMONDS, Wash. – An Edmonds man is under arrest for investigation of murder after he walked into his local police station, reported he had committed a “premeditated homicide,” and told officers where they could find the body.

The unusual case unfolded Thursday at about 2:40 a.m. when the 24-year-old man phoned duty officers from the station call box. When brought in and questioned by police, the man said he had just stabbed his father to death and then walked to the station to report it.

Officers then responded to the man’s home and discovered the body of a 64-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

The 24-year-old man was then taken into custody.

Detectives are now investigating the death as a domestic violence incident and have confirmed the 64-year old victim is the father of the suspect. Based on previous contacts with the suspect, his family had reported that he had a history of mental illness.

The suspect is being booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder.
