PORT ANGELES – Serenity House of Clallam County announced this week that the family shelter and night-by-night emergency shelter will be closing June 29 because they have run out of money. The closures will remain in effect until stable funding is developed for the shelters.
Executive director Doc Robinson says he needs $70,000 to fund the night-by-night shelter through the end of the year, and $56,000 to run the family shelter.
County Commissioners already came up with an additional $55,000 this year over and above it’s original budget for Serenity House, but that money runs out this month.
As Robinson often points out, solving the problem of homelessness ultimately comes down to the whole community:
