EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A county in Washington state has agreed to pay about $2 million to the family of a teenage girl who was raped at county-sponsored event in 2016. The Daily Herald reported that the Snohomish County Council approved Monday $1.95 million to the girl and her mother after they sued the county for negligence in April 2019. The lawsuit claims county park rangers were working the August movie night event but did nothing to stop her from being dragged away and raped. The county admitted no fault under the terms of the settlement agreement. A jury later convicted the man of rape in 2018.
